Preparing for the Future: Juniors Explore Real-World Finances

On Wednesday, December 10th, Elba Arenas, President & CEO; Samantha Kostura, Chief Financial Officer; and Ashley Jones, Marketing & Education Specialist, volunteered at the Financial Reality Fair hosted by Horizon Federal Credit Union at Muncy Junior-Senior High School.

During the event, junior students selected an occupation and received a budget sheet outlining their monthly net pay based on a typical first-year salary. They then visited a series of booths—covering housing, food, transportation, cell phones, entertainment, and more—to make real-world financial decisions and create a workable monthly budget.

At the end of the day, students met with a financial counselor as a group to review their choices and see if they were able to stay within budget.
