Directing the Future

The Board of Directors at your credit union is made up of qualified, volunteer credit union members. The Nominating Committee has named incumbents Matthew Hoeger, William Anderson, and Brian Ulmer, who have previously been filed with the Secretary of the Board of Directors, to fill open positions on our Board of Directors.

Matthew Hoeger is a resident of Danville and the Sr. Director of Revenue Integrity for Penn State Health. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Bloomsburg University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Pennsylvania College of Technology. Matt has served on the council of Trinity Lutheran Church for 8 years. Matt says, “I believe my years of experience with the credit union will help me be a good contributing member of the team.” He has been serving on the MC Federal Credit Union Board of Directors in various roles for over 12 years, most recently as the Secretary/Treasurer.

William Anderson is a resident of Newport and the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Evangelical Community Hospital Endoscopy Center. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Pennsylvania College of Technology. William served as a Capital Planning Committee Member at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum from 2018 through 2021. He is currently serving on the Board for both WITF and the Miller Center for Recreation and Wellness. William says, “As a member of the Board and Supervisory Committee Liaison, it has been a privilege to assist in guiding MCFCU’s strategy and leadership through recent transitions. I bring with me experience in organizational leadership that will continue to benefit the credit union and its members.” He has served on the MC Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and has been acting as the Supervisory Committee Liaison since 2021.

Brian Ulmer is a resident of Mifflinburg and serves as a Public Defender for Union County. He holds a Juris Doctor from the Dickinson School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from Mansfield University. Brian served as President and Secretary for the Kiwanis Club of Buffalo Valley from 1996 through 2008 and as Vice Chairperson, Secretary, and Board Member for the Union County Republican Party from 1998 through 2008. He is currently serving on the Board of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Lewisburg. Brian says, “I appreciate what MC has done for my family and me and I hope to assist others. My several years of service on the Board, during a time of great change, equip me in helping my fellow consumers.” He has been serving on the MC Federal Credit Union Board of Directors since 2020, most recently as Vice Chairperson.

No other interested members have submitted petitions to serve on the Board of Directors. There will be no nominations from the floor at the annual meeting.

MC Federal Financial Wellness Program Earns National Award

MC Federal Credit Union is proud to announce that we have been awarded the 2022 National CUNA Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award. The award recognizes leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of financial literacy for members and nonmembers of all ages. The award, named after credit union pioneer Alphonse Desjardins, emphasizes the movement’s longtime commitment to financial education.

This award was earned by Elba Arenas, President & Chief Member Experience Officer and her Financial Wellness Team who use their financial expertise and life experience to delivery our program, The Road to Financial Wellness. Our approach to financial literacy delivers targeted solutions for each community we serve. The program prioritizes topics that build accountability, independence, and confidence in the class attendees. The topics focus on real-world applications of financial skills that provide a solid financial foundation for the future. There are six classes, each of which covers a different topic. These topics include understanding accounts and fees, an intro to lending, budgeting, credit cards vs. debit cards, understanding your credit report and credit score, and identity theft and fraud. The classes are customized to meet the needs of each individual in order to provide the best financial wellbeing information for all of the participant. Our newly expanded course has been taught in partnership with local schools, The Getting Ahead Foundation, Union County Probation, and The Northumberland County Jail. We seek to overcome the barriers set forth by factors such as race, age, and gender and make free financial education available to every member of our community.
